CHILLIWACK β€” Details are limited at this point, but a spokesperson for the Chilliwack RCMP detachment has confirmed that a 43-year-old woman died after being struck by a train Sunday morning (July 13) in Chilliwack.

β€œOn July 13, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Chilliwack RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a train near Aitken Road. Tragically, a 43-year-old Chilliwack woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. No further details will be released,” Chilliwack RCMP wrote in an email to Fraser Valley Today.

A Chilliwack resident named Shilo Minuk reported hearing a loud horn blast at approximately 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning. First responders immediately responded to the scene after the train hit a pedestrian near Ashwell Road.

A BCEHS spokesperson said an ambulance with primary care paramedics and an ambulance with advanced care paramedics responded to the call in the 8000-block of Aitken Road, but no patients were taken to hospital.

Rail crossings on Ashwell Road, Young Road and Eagle Landing Parkway had all been blocked due to the incident. Closures have since cleared up as of 9:52 a.m.

There have been at least two pedestrian-train collisions since the beginning of this year. In May, the Young Road rail crossing had also been closed off after a 28-year-old man was fatally struck by a train on a Wednesday morning.
