LANGLEY — Mounties in Langley say a 33-year-old woman was rushed to hospital over the weekend after suffering severe burns in what police are calling an assault.

According to a statement from Langley RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, police responded to a woman in distress on Saturday evening, July 12, at approximately 6:35 p.m., in the 20300 block of Fraser Highway in Langley.

When frontline officers arrived, they found a 33-year-old woman suffering from severe burns. She was immediately transported to a local area hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Police suspect the assault was targeted.

“This does not appear to be a random act. We believe the victim was deliberately exposed to an unknown substance, resulting in serious burns consistent with an intentional act,” said Sgt. Sharoom. “We’re urging anyone who may have information about this incident to contact our investigators.”

Police are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who was in the area at the time or may have dash camera footage. If you witnessed anything suspicious or have relevant video evidence, please contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and quote file number 2025-22290.
