Motorcyclist overtakes police at nearly 100 km/h above speed limit, pays the price
ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford say an older motorcyclist with a need for speed is paying the price for driving nearly 100 km/h above the posted speed limit on an Abbotsford roadway.
According to a social media post from the department, plainclothes patrol officers had been conducting speed enforcement along King Road between McCallum Road and Clearbrook Road Monday morning (July 7) when they were overtaken by a 58-year-old motorcyclist traveling at nearly 150 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone. The motorcycle was stopped and impounded for excessive speed.
Police say the rider was also found to be in violation of his license restrictions, which prohibit driving over 60 km/h. Multiple tickets were issued.
“Just because you don’t see us doesn’t mean we’re not there,” AbbyPD wrote on social media.
