Mission RCMP respond to burnt-out cars, road rage in latest community round-up

MISSION — Mission Mounties’ latest Community Connection has reported a busy week on the roads leading up to Canada Day.

RCMP responded to 346 calls for service from June 23 to 29, and a number of them involved incidents involving different sets of wheels.

On June 29, at around 12:30 p.m., an incident on Lougheed Highway in the Silverdale area ended in a broken windshield after a Toyota Corolla cut off a Harley-Davidson on the road.

When both motorists pulled over on Wren Street near Rai Avenue, an altercation led to the driver reportedly pulling out a can of bear spray. The rider allegedly took the bear spray and punched the windshield of the Corolla, then zoomed away.

“No injuries were reported to either person,” wrote the Mission RCMP. “As always, anyone who finds themselves in a road rage incident should drive away, call 911 if necessary, or – if driving right past a police station like these motorists did – stop in and ask for help.”

That same day, police were called after a resident found a pick-up truck with bullet holes in it. RCMP found the red 2010 Ford F-150 – and other burnt-out cars – in the area around the four-kilometre mark of the Lost Creek Forest Service Road.

The F-150 has since been determined to be stolen from Surrey. Anyone with information on the truck is asked to contact Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161 and quote file 25-7617.
