CHILLIWACK — A donation from the Chilliwack Hospital Auxiliary can now help local patients find their voice again.

Chilliwack General Hospital has received funding for a new, state-of-the-art stroboscopy light source for video-rhinolaryngoscopes —a test that utilizes video technology to examine a patient’s upper airway.

“This equipment will revolutionize the way we assess and treat voice disorders in our patients,” said Katie Marochi, registered speech-language pathologist. “Thanks to the Chilliwack Auxiliary, we can provide a higher level of care and improve the quality of life for individuals struggling with voice issues.”

Videostroboscopy slows down the vibration of the vocal cords, which provides extensive detail on how a person’s voice is affected by their illness, as well as insight into the physical health of their vocal folds.
