Police in Abbotsford confirm 39-year-old man stabbed early Wednesday

ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford say a 39-year-old man was transported to hospital early Wednesday morning after being stabbed in Abbotsford following a reported altercation.

According to a statement from AbbyPD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker, AbbyPD patrol officers were dispatched at approximately 12:22 a.m. Wednesday (July 2) for the report of a stabbing on McCallum Road. On arrival, first responders found a 39-year-old man who had been stabbed following an altercation nearby. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, authorities located the initial scene of the incident in the 33500 block of Cannon Avenue.

Sgt. Walker says the Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that this was a targeted incident, with no ongoing threat to public safety.
