UPDATE 10:50 A.M.: Mounties in Mission say Burma Forest Service Road has fully reopened after an earlier police incident. Mounties write on Facebook, “Thank you everyone for your understanding.”

Original story:

MISSION — Mounties in Mission say Burma Forest Service Road is currently closed at the entrance from Dewdney Trunk Road due to an ongoing police incident.

According to a social media post, Mission RCMP say there is no access to the boat launch or campgrounds for anyone who is not already up there.

Police say while there is no indication of a risk to anyone already in any of the Stave Lake recreation areas, Mission RCMP are asking people in that area to stay off the main forest service roads.

Mounties say the campgrounds remain open to anyone already in place, and anyone already on the water will also have access to the boat launch as needed.

Police are also asking that anyone who sees the following vehicle to call 911 and do not approach: Grey 2006 Ford F-350, no canopy, plastic water tank in bed, license PX319F.

Mission RCMP say will update as soon as the closure has been lifted.

A Facebook user named Sarah Greencorn said she was up in that area at 8:45 this morning and said Mounties had it closed off then.

“Large police presence at the front gate not letting anyone in,” Sarah Greencorn wrote in a Mission-area Facebook page. “Officer said it would be closed for a few hours at least.”
