22-year-old Fraser Valley man killed in hit and run Sunday in central B.C.

B.C. INTERIOR — A spokesperson for the B.C. Highway Patrol has confirmed that a 22-year-old pedestrian from the Fraser Valley was struck and killed while walking on Highway 97 south of Oliver, B.C., this past weekend.

According to a statement from B.C. Highway Patrol spokesperson Constable Clyde Feero, Mounties from the Oliver RCMP detachment were notified about a motor vehicle incident in which a pedestrian was struck while walking southbound on the side of the road near Cassini Cellars Winery, roughly six kilometers south of Oliver on Highway 97. Officers attended as did BC EHS paramedics and located a 22-year-old man from Surrey who was pronounced deceased at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.

Police say the driver failed to remain at the scene. BC Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s assistance with this investigation and seeking any information or dash cash cam video during this time and location.

BC Highway Patrol says it is reaching out to the individual or individuals responsible and asking them to do the right thing and contact the RCMP immediately.
