
Fraser Valley man charged in crash that killed 2, injured 3 last year
FRASER VALLEY — A 35-year-old Fraser Valley man has been formally charged with 15 criminal counts for a motor vehicle incident that killed two women in their 20s and injured three others last year.
According to a statement from BC Highway Patrol A/Sgt. Patrick Davies, following a BCHP investigation of just over a year, the B.C. Prosecution Service approved 15 charges against Chi Sun Park of Surrey for a crash on February 18, 2024 in which a minivan and Tesla collided on Highway 1 eastbound near the Sprott Street exit in Burnaby. The crash killed two women ages 20 and 23 from Maple Ridge, and seriously injured two Maple Ridge women in their thirties and a Surrey man in his thirties.
On June 9, 2025, the BC Prosecution Service charged 35-year-old Chi Sun Park with 15 counts, including the following:
- Two counts of dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death, section 320.13(3) of the Criminal Code;
- Three counts of dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm, section 320.13(2) of the Criminal Code;
- Two counts of operation of a conveyance while impaired by drugs causing death, section 320.14(3) of the Criminal Code.
- Three counts of operation of a conveyance while impaired by drugs causing bodily harm, section 320.14(2) of the Criminal Code;
- Two counts of operation of a conveyance with a blood drug concentration that exceeded the concentration for methamphetamine prescribed by regulation causing death, contrary to Section 320.14(3) of the Criminal Code.
- Three counts of operation of a conveyance with a blood drug concentration that exceeded the concentration for methamphetamine prescribed by regulation causing bodily harm, contrary to Section 320.14(2) of the Criminal Code.
