FRASER VALLEY — Motorists in the Fraser Valley who might be traveling through Langley, on their way to Vancouver or over to Vancouver Island this weekend are being notified about the possibility of heavy traffic along Highway 1.

According to a statement from the B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Transit, drivers should expect heavy traffic on Highway 1 near 56 Avenue and 264 Street starting Friday night until Monday morning, in Langley.

Lane closures will take place on 56 Avenue and 264 Street on the south side of the interchange from 7 p.m. on Friday, June 13 until 5:30 a.m. on Monday, June 16. Traffic will merge to single lanes and use single-lane-alternating traffic patterns at times.

The lane closures are needed for the continued construction of the 264 Street interchange, advancing the widening of Highway 1 through the Fraser Valley. Access to local businesses will not be affected by the work.
