
Mounties arrest man accused of deliberately starting fire in Langley
FRASER VALLEY — Mounties in Langley say a Langley man has been arrested on charges that he allegedly set fire to a barn in the 20500 block of 102B Avenue last Friday.
Mounties received a call for service involving a fire on Friday, June 6 at about 11:45 a.m. Upon arrival, officers located a barn that was fully engulfed in flames. Multiple police resources were deployed amid the structure fire.
According to a statement from Langley RCMP Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, police conducted an extensive investigation and determined there were grounds to believe the fire had been set deliberately. Additionally, while officers conducted several witnesses’ interviews and gathered key evidence, it was determined an alleged assault had also occurred during the incident.
Christopher Gerald William England, a Langley resident, was arrested on Saturday, June 7, in response to this incident with help from the Lower Mainland District Integrated Police Dog Service (LMDIPDS). England has been charged with multiple offences including arson, assault with a weapon, and obstructing police. Christopher Gerald William England remains in custody pending his next court appearance.
