CHILLIWACK — Three Chilliwack Fire Department engines were paged for the report of a vehicle into a building Monday morning (June 9).

According to scanner traffic, a vehicle struck a building at 8858 Ashwell Road, Kwaw-Kwaw-Apilt Cannabis, in Chilliwack just before 9 a.m. While three fire engines were paged, one attended and radioed dispatch that the other units could stand by at their respective halls while they investigated.

A Fraser Valley Today reporter attended the scene and saw shattered glass in the northeast corner of the building.

Two RCMP units were on scene along with a single B.C. Ambulance Service unit. Paramedics arrived on scene at approximately 9:01 a.m.

Chilliwack Fire Department reset the breakers from the affected area of the building. A single Chilliwack Fire Department engine cleared from the scene shortly thereafter.

Traffic was a bit snarled in the area due to the presence of multiple emergency vehicles (RCMP and ambulance) at the cannabis shop, which is just a few metres off Ashwell Road.

A tow truck also attended the scene.

One of the entrances to the cannabis store had been closed with a rolling gate after the incident.

Fraser Valley Today has reached out to B.C. Ambulance Service to see if the motorist involved in this incident was transported to hospital.
