1 in custody amid heavy police presence at Abbotsford home where suspect had been hiding

UPDATE 10:09 A.M. SATURDAY: AbbyPD Sgt. Paul Walker has confirmed that a male suspect has been arrested and is in custody. There are no injuries associated with today’s incident. Police are breaking down the scene.

ABBOTSFORD — A spokesperson for the Abbotsford Police Department has confirmed a heavy police presence at a home in central Abbotsford where a suspect is believed to be hiding Saturday morning.

According to a statement from AbbyPD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker, AbbyPD patrol officers and members of the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team are currently deployed to the 1800 block of Dahl Crescent.

“This is an isolated incident contained to a residence where a suspect with a Canada-wide warrant is believed to be hiding inside,” Sgt. Walker said. “The public in the surrounding area is not at risk. We’re asking the public to avoid coming to the area as the police operation is underway.”

Fraser Valley Today was tipped off about this police incident by Fraser Valley resident Jessica Primrose, who is active on Facebook.

Dahl Crescent is located north of Highway 1, between McCallum Road (exit 90) and Sumas Way (exit 92), in central Abbotsford.
