City of Chilliwack hosts Shred-a-Thon, food drive Saturday
CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack residents who yielded stacks of paper during spring cleaning have another chance to get rid of them at the City’s latest Shred-A-Thon today (Jun. 7).
Each household is entitled to a maximum of 10 boxes of residential shredding materials, and anyone with more is asked to hold off until the next Shred-A-Thon, or use the Staples and UPS Store on Vedder Road, or the Southgate Shopping Centre’s UPS Store.
Shred-A-Thon runs in conjunction with the Salvation Army’s Food Drive to continue running its community program in Chilliwack. Donations are not required to have your documents shredded, but residents have taken on the task anyway, donating a total of $68,548 since the program began in 2010.
“On December 7th, 2024, Chilliwack residents donated 15,000 lbs of food and over $8000 in cash to the Salvation Army Food Bank,” wrote the City. “A special thank you to all the wonderful volunteers, Emterra staff, and Shred-it who made this all possible.
