Cat rescue launches bottle drives in Abbotsford-Mission, Chilliwack starting Saturday

Jun 7, 2025 | 10:32 AM

ABBOTSFORD — A local cat rescue has packed its Saturdays this month to support its feline welfare programs in the Fraser Valley.

“While our foster cats nap in sunbeams and kittens conquer cardboard castles, we’re out here doing the real work—caring for the community cats that too often go unseen, forgotten, and left behind,” wrote the Abby Cat Daddy in a post.

“Bring us your empties (cans, bottles, milk jugs, etc. in clear or blue bags) and help fund our work caring for local community cats — the ones so often forgotten, but never by us.”

Throughout June, the Abby Cat Daddy will be hopping around the region for its weekly bottle drives at the following parks:

  • June 7 – Abbotsford: Ellwood Park (Baseball Parking Lot)
  • June 14 – Mission: Centennial Park (West Parking Lot)
  • June 21 – Chilliwack: Watson Glen Park (Library Parking Lot)

Volunteers may be able to pick up bags from residents who need assistance by contacting the organization through social media or by emailing rescue@theabbycatdaddy.ca.

The team will also be setting up a booth at the Downtown Chilliwack Community Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 28, where visitors can learn more about the rescue and shop cat-themed merch.

All funds will be allocated to feeding and housing the 70 cats under its care, as well as supporting the trap-neuter-return (TNR) program and a future Thrift Store and Adoption Centre in Abbotsford.
