Chilliwack pizza business closes temporarily at downtown shopping centre

CHILLIWACK — A downtown Chilliwack pizza business with more than 25 years of experience in the pizza industry has temporarily closed.

Demetre’s Pizzeria, located in unit 15 of the Coast Salish Plaza at 46030 Yale Road, wrote on its website that it has vacated its current location because it couldn’t reach an agreement with its landlord.

“Dear valued customers, we regret to inform you that we were unable to reach an agreement on a new lease with our landlord and, as a result, we must vacate our current location,” Demetre’s Pizza wrote online.

The business says it is currently looking for a new location, hinting that the closure is only temporary.

“We are actively searching for a new space to continue serving you and will share updates as soon as we have news to share,” Demetre’s Pizza said. “We truly appreciate your continued support and patience during this transition. We look forward to welcoming you again soon in our new location.”

One of Demetre’s bestsellers was its four-topping large pizza for $18. By comparison, Jim’s Pizzeria on Vedder Road in Sardis is currently selling a four-topping large pizza for $22, tax included.

The pizza establishment had a fairly exemplary rating on its Facebook page, with 84 per cent of customers recommending Demetre’s among 40 reviews. It had a 4.3 rating out of 5 stars among 230 reviews on Google.
