UFV recognizing six leaders with honorary degrees this June

ABBOTSFORD — The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) is recognizing six leaders from a variety of backgrounds at its upcoming Convocation ceremonies.
From June 10 to 12, the UFV will be giving honorary degrees through six ceremonies to the following community trailblazers:
- Indigenous leader Hi:olemtel Clarence (Kat) Pennier, for devoting his life to fighting for equity for Indigenous people, and the Stó:lō people in particular,
- Indigenous educator and former UFV Chancellor Shoyshqwelwhet Gwen Point, who supported Indigenous education in multiple roles and served as Chatelaine of British Columbia’s Government House,
- Business leaders John Anderson, Suzannah Pierce, and Gary Teichrob, for their work in the agriculture and energy industries, and
- Public health administrator Jane Buxton, who has had a lengthy career as a leader in B.C. public health.
Honorary doctorates will be presented at the UFV Athletic Centre, located at 33844 King Road in Abbotsford.
