ABBOTSFORD — The Salvation Army in Abbotsford has announced that it hosted a successful annual luncheon– by exceeding its $10,000 fundraising goal.

On Wednesday, April 23, the third Hope in the Valley Luncheon welcomed 141 guests to celebrate the work of its members in delivering compassionate care to those in need.

Key speakers Al Breitkreuz, Major Ruth Gillingham and Ian Pollard each shared their stories of resilience through the Salvation Army. A Hero for Hope award was also handed to Jon Armstrong and his family, who have been examples of overcoming hardship out of homelessness.

“The Salvation Army was raised up for that, championing the hopeless into wellness”, shared Major Ian Gillingham.

The Salvation Army is an international Christian social services organization that operates in 56 communities across British Columbia, providing practical and compassionate support to meet the basic human needs of its communities.
