ABBOTSFORD — The Abbotsford Police Department has removed more than a dozen impaired drivers off the road over the past couple of days, but one incident left the police especially concerned.

On Thursday afternoon (May 29), a 40-year-old woman crashed into a tree and got stuck on a concrete median. Police found she was more than three times the legal alcohol limit and was on the way to pick up her child from school.

The woman has since been arrested for drunk driving, and Patrol and Traffic Enforcement officers went on to remove 19 more impaired drivers in a single night yesterday (May 30)– three times the number from last Friday.

“It’s alarming how many individuals continue to drive under the influence, despite the ease of finding a safe ride home,” wrote AbbyPD.
