CHILLIWACK — A Coquitlam snow removal company has resorted to an unusual tactic as it tries to recruit more contractors ahead of winter later this year.

The company, Snow Queen Winter Management, has placed at least two signs in the Chilliwack River Valley in the past week seeking ATV owners and operators to contract with its company.

On its website, the company claims ATV owners and operators can earn $110/hour doing snow removal in greater Vancouver.

“Are you looking to turn your ATV into a valuable source of extra income? Snow Queen has the perfect opportunity for you! By partnering with us, you can significantly contribute towards paying off your truck payments, mortgage, or even your ATV itself,” Snow Queen wrote on its website. “Snow Queen stands out in the snow removal industry by offering the highest hourly rate available. You can start earning an impressive $110 per hour simply by using your quad, backed by a solid reputation of paying on time.”

Fraser Valley Today visited Bench Forest Service Road in the Chilliwack River Valley Wednesday and witnessed one of their signs, which appeared to have a solar-powered LED light affixed to it.

The company claims contractors can make over $7,500 per snow season in Vancouver.

“In fact, on average it snow multiple times a year. So much so, you could make $7500+ a season! That’s a hefty payment for a Side by Side, a vacation to Spain or a meal for the piggy bank,” the company said. “If you’re a motivated, hardworking individual ready to earn when the snow starts falling, the only thing standing in your way is you (well, and maybe Mother Nature, if you let her). Snow Queen is the perfect opportunity to turn your toy into a money-making machine!”

The company had one sign on Bench Forest Service Road, and another closer to the Tamihi Bridge at a Recreation Sites and Trails BC site.

It’s not clear whether the company had permission to mount the signs. Most signs along forest service roads in the Chilliwack River Valley are officially sanctioned and have authorization, rather than signs from for-profit companies like Snow Queen.
