Police look to ID two individuals possibly connected to Nowell Street residential fire in Chilliwack

CHILLIWACK — Police in Chilliwack are asking for the public’s help in identifying two individuals who may have information about a residential fire that happened on Nowell Street last month.

According to a statement from the UFVRD media relations unit, Chilliwack RCMP members responded to a report of a structure fire in the 8900 block of Nowell Street on Friday, April 11 at 3:19 a.m. On arrival, RCMP officers found the residence fully engulfed in flames. The home was vacant at the time of the incident.

As part of the ongoing investigation, officers conducted neighbourhood inquiries and reviewed CCTV footage of the area.

This has led investigators to believe that two unidentified individuals may have information that could assist in the investigation.

Roughly 35 Chilliwack firefighters from four halls were dispatched to fight the massive fire that engulfed a two-storey home on Nowell Street in Chilliwack.

“Crews quickly established a defensive attack on the fire, utilizing several large and small diameter hose streams to contain the fire,” said the Chililwack Fire Department in a release. “Fire crews were able to prevent the spread of the fire to nearby structures, despite being challenged by intense heat and a large volume of fire.”

The unoccupied home was also for sale at the time of the fire.
