Surrey man arrested after driving with ten storage containers full of cannabis
YALE — A 33-year-old Surrey driver is facing charges after police found 33 kilograms of cannabis in his minivan on Highway 1, near Yale.
On April 14 at 3:30 p.m., BC Highway Patrol officers stopped a lone driver at a road check when one officer saw that the car was suspiciously full of ten large storage containers. The vehicle’s insides were also emitting an overpowering cannabis stench.
“This case illustrates how routine traffic enforcement can also uncover other serious violations,” said Inspector Lori Orstad with BC Highway Patrol. “In this instance, officers observed circumstances that required further investigation.”
Under the Cannabis Act, a federal licence is needed to possess, store, or transport large amounts of green.
