CHILLIWACK — Mounties are now giving an update on the child who went missing from Chilliwack River Valley Thursday afternoon.

At a news conference Friday (May 2), police say the search continues for 7-year-old Lilly Coursol. Mounties are still deploying all resources, including drones with infrared technology, to find her.

“It is all hands on deck currently, and we’re going to continue that search,” said Inspector Jeff Bowerman, interim Officer in Charge for the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment.

When asked why an amber alert hadn’t been called, Bowerman replied, “There’s nothing related to criminality that we’re aware of at this time.”

Chilliwack River sits less than a kilometre south and east of the 50800 block of Winona Road, where Lilly was last seen. External agencies are also helping with the search, including BC Conservation Service, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and specialized RCMP units.

Police urge residents to continue staying out of the area.

“We want to keep it tight at this time, just based on the nature of the terrain and location that it is,” he said. “Obviously, for their own safety, we don’t want a large contingent of public people.”

The 7-year-old is described as four feet tall with light brown hair and brown eyes, wearing a pink t-shirt, pink capris, and pink Crocs.

Police are now looking for these pieces of information:

  • If anyone’s driving in the area of Chilliwack River Road between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. on May 1st, please check the dashcam video.
  • For those of you who live in the Chilliwack River Valley, we ask that you search your outbuildings on the property, vehicles, sheds, etc. Contact us if you find anything.
  • If you have CCTV cameras following the property, we would ask that you review that footage.

Anyone with information is asked to call Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

The search is set to continue tonight.
