Prison staff seize meth, fentanyl on perimeter of Fraser Valley prison
ABBOTSFORD – Federal prison officials say a package containing contraband was seized on the perimeter of Fraser Valley Institution, a multi-level federal institution in Abbotsford, last week.
According to a statement from Correctional Service Canada, the contraband seized on Wednesday, April 16 included cannabis concentrate, crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, MDMA, and a number of opiate pills. The total estimated institutional value of the seizure is $16,000.
AbbyPD has been notified and the institution itself is investigating.
CSC says it uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions. These tools include ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates, and visitors.
