Visits to Fraser Valley prison suspended due to lockdown
ABBOTSFORD — Correctional Service Canada staff have ordered a lockdown at a federal prison in the Fraser Valley.
According to a statement Tuesday, CSC says the lockdown was instituted at Matsqui Institution, a medium-security federal institution, on Monday, April 14, to enable correctional personnel to conduct an exceptional search.
CSC says the search was initiated to protect the institution, its staff, and inmates.
Visits have been suspended until the search is completed. Normal operations will resume as soon as correctional staff deem it safe to do so.
