People’s Party of Canada leader to visit Chilliwack this weekend
CHILLIWACK — People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier plans to make a stop this weekend in Chilliwack, a riding where the last PPC candidate in 2021 made a decent showing for a political party still looking to define itself nationally.
Bernier, a former Conservative MLA turned PPC leader whose party is hovering around the two per cent mark nationally, will speak at Evergreen Hall (9291 Corbould Street) this Sunday, April 13 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., during the Fraser Valley leg of his B.C. election tour. He’ll be there alongside Chilliwack-Hope PPC candidate Jeff Galbraith, whose campaign signs have been seen throughout several parts of Chilliwack. Galbraith is a Canadian Navy veteran, former small business owner and single father who hopes to use his diverse experiences as the party’s nominee in the upcoming federal election.
“Canadians deserve to have the Freedom to live their lives as they deem right for themselves and their families and not to have those Freedoms violated by those who ‘promised’ to represent them in Ottawa,” said Galbraith on his campaign website. “The People’s Party offers Canadians an opportunity that none of the existing parties have provided: principled and accountable government. Voters can choose a government that is committed to restoring the freedoms and the authority to control their own life, their own affairs, and their own family.”
Bernier made a stop in Chilliwack and Abbotsford in August 2022 as part of his Summer Leader’s Tour.
