CHILLIWACK — A spokesperson for the Upper Fraser Valley RCMP detachment in Chilliwack has confirmed that police executed a search warrant Wednesday at a Windsor Street home.

According to a statement, RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener says police carried out the search warrant at a home in the 9000 block of Windsor Street in connection with a criminal code investigation.

Given the sensitive nature of the investigation, police could not release any other specific details about what transpired at the home.

“Due to the nature of the file, we won’t be sharing details about what has occurred,” Cpl. Kiener told Fraser Valley Today in an email. “However, we can confirm that the incident being investigated is isolated and there was never any risk to the general public.”

One person may have been arrested, but police did not release any information about any possible arrests.

A Chilliwack resident who lives in the area told Fraser Valley Today that she witnessed a consistent police presence at the Windsor Street home, believed to be a duplex, for most of the day Wednesday.

“There’s been quite the police presence at the end of Windsor Street and First Avenue today,” the resident said. “Police have been present since 5:30 a.m. this morning. More have come and gone. I just returned from a school pick up and police [are] still there and more that have arrived in a black van.”
