CHILLIWACK — Harrison Hot Springs, a quaint village of about 2,000 people, has had its only gas station reopen under a new name.

According to a social media post dated Sunday, March 30 from Varinder Mudhar, Canco in Harrison is officially opened.

“Exciting news! We’re thrilled to announce that the Canco in Harrison is now open!” Mudhar wrote on a Harrison-area Facebook group. “We’ve got brand new pumps installed and our store is stocked with exciting products!”

Mudhar says he wants to hear from local residents about what they’d like to see stocked at the store.

“Your feedback matters! Come check us out and show your support! We can’t wait to serve you!”

One Facebook commenter suggested the store offer beer, wine and fried chicken.

The store doesn’t offer propane just yet, but is working on providing that.

Another Facebook commenter said the store should offer locals a 10 per cent discount.

Canco has a gas station at the corner of Highway 7 and 9, located south of Harrison Hot Springs, in the District of Kent.

The Husky gas bar at 200 Hot Springs Road had officially closed on Wednesday, February 26, according to the former Husky manager Renata Mabie.

“Dear HHS Community, as of today the Husky gas bar is closed,” Mabie wrote in a Facebook post in late February. “I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering support over the past decade. It’s been an absolute privilege to serve this incredible community. Your loyalty, encouragement, and trust have meant the world to me, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to have grown alongside this vibrant community. Thank you again for your kindness, support, and friendship.”
