ABBOTSFORD — A 25-year-old businessman is looking to become the Abbotsford-South Langley riding’s first Member of Parliament.

On his campaign page, Sukhdeep Gill stated that he would use his local upbringing to serve his community, writing that he grew up on – and started managing – his family’s local blueberry farm while pursuing a degree in Business Administration.

“I’ve gained valuable experience managing farm operations and gained firsthand insight into the challenges faced by local families and businesses,” he said.

“Our community has undergone significant changes, many of which have been detrimental. The cost of living is soaring, housing is becoming increasingly unaffordable, and rising crime rates are making families feel less secure.”

Gill is now the riding’s Conservative Party candidate for the federal election in April.

“I’m running because I believe Canada is heading in the wrong direction and I believe Pierre Poilievre and his team will guide us toward a more prosperous future for Canada.”

Apart from his work experience, Gill also touted his community involvement. The Abbotsford-born candidate has participated in initiatives like GiveBackAbby, the annual Mela and Canada Day events hosted by the Diamond Cultural Club Association, and volunteering with KidsPlay.

“The stakes have never been higher for Abbotsford-South Langley and for all Canadians. This election is a pivotal moment in our nation’s future, and I am proud to be running to represent our community as the common sense Conservative candidate.”
