Langley Mounties seize $150K in drugs and cash, possibly linked to organized crime

LANGLEY — Mounties in Langley say a special police response unit seized approximately $150,000 worth of illicit drugs, currency and a vehicle last week during a traffic stop of a suspicious vehicle.

According to a statement from Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, Langley RCMP’s Special Response Team located a suspicious vehicle in the 20200 block of 66 Avenue on Thursday, March 13 at approximately 4 p.m. Police say that specific vehicle was known to authorities since it fled from police previously while being involved in organized crime in the Lower Mainland.

Police say officers observed the suspect driver returning to their vehicle from a nearby apartment. As officers began to conduct a traffic stop, the driver made attempts to flee from police, however, their attempts were thwarted. Two men from Maple Ridge were taken into police custody and a search incidental to arrest and subsequent search warrant yielded the following items:

  • 8 kg of cannabis products in various forms;
  • 700 grams of fentanyl;
  • 300 grams of cocaine;
  • Over 500 pills believed to be counterfeit OxyContin;
  • $3,000 in currency; and
  • 2022 Mercedes GLC300
