Update: Suspect in custody in Langley shooting

UPDATE: A suspect is in custody following a reported incident of shots fired in Langley.

Langley RCMP provided the following statement:

“On March 4, 2025, at approximately 3 p.m., Langley RCMP were requested to check the well being of a person at a residence located in the 4400 block of 236 Street.

“As officers began heading to the area, Langley RCMP received multiple 911 calls were where it was reported that sounds of gun fire were being heard from the same area.

“Several officers from the Langley RCMP attended the area, along with officers from the Integrated Emergency Response Team and Integrated Police Dog Services.

One person has been taken into Police custody and I can confirm that there is no on-going threat to the public, says Sergeant Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP.

The shelter-in place advisory has been lifted and no individuals were injured in this incident. The Langley RCMP will remain in the area to continue the investigation.

LANGLEY — Mounties in Langley say they have responded to a report of shots fired in the 4400 block of 236 Street Tuesday afternoon.

According to a statement at 4:03 p.m. Tuesday from Langley RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, several officers are in the area and additional police resources are being called in.

“This is an active event and we are asking everyone in the area to adhere to police directions, shelter in place within the immediate vicinity or avoid the area for their own safety,” said Sergeant Sharoom.

The investigation is still in its early stages and more information will be made available at a later time.

The area around 4400 block of 236 Street will remain closed while the Langley RCMP continue their investigation, Sgt. Sharoom said. Motorists are being requested to avoid the area and find alternate routes.
