CHILLIWACK — After 16 years in its current location, a popular Chilliwack restaurant offering hearty Vietnamese noodle soup plans to relocate from its current storefront to a new location in a more spacious unit.

According to owner Al Trieu, Pho Galaxy at 104-45863 Yale Road in Chilliwack plans to relocate to the former Younie’s Family Restaurant at 60-45905 Yale Road West, a fixture in Chilliwack for over 60 years that closed in December 2022.

The new location features over 2,500 square feet of restaurant retail space.

The move to the now-vacant restaurant space is intended to give Pho Galaxy more interior space, more dining tables and additional storage for supplies and materials, in addition to more parking spaces in a larger shopping centre, Trieu said.

During lunch and dinner hours, it’s not uncommon for Pho Galaxy to be completely full, especially during the cold winter months when hot noodle soup is akin to comfort food.

Municipal permitting approval of the new location took several months, Trieu told Fraser Valley Today Friday during lunch. He hopes to open at the new location by the end of June 2025.

In addition to an extensive lineup of noodle soups, Pho Galaxy also offers grilled lemongrass pork and chicken, bánh mì sandwiches, spring rolls and Vietnamese coffee. It is a popular take-out destination given its close proximity to Chilliwack General Hospital and the hundreds of Fraser Health employees who work there.
