Pedestrian dies after being struck on Boundary Road Monday night: Chilliwack RCMP

CHILLIWACK — Mounties in Chilliwack are investigating a fatal motor vehicle incident Monday night that claimed the life of a pedestrian.

According to a statement from police, Chilliwack RCMP frontline officers and members of the General Investigative Support Unit responded Monday night (Feb. 17) at 9:10 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck in the 3500 block of Boundary Road. Abbotsford PD responded to assist as well. Despite lifesaving efforts, a male pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police investigators have identified the vehicle involved and the investigation remains ongoing. The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been deployed to assist with the investigation.

“Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased in their time of mourning,” said Sgt. Ryan Dauphinee of the Chilliwack RCMP.

Multiple Chilliwack Fire Department engines had been dispatched for a motor vehicle incident on Boundary Road Monday night. A landing zone was in the process of being established at Yarrow Sports Field but was cancelled at approximately 9:40 p.m. An air ambulance was initially dispatched but was later cancelled by ground crews at the scene of the accident.

BC EHS received a call at 9:14 p.m. about the motor vehicle incident involving a pedestrian in the 3700 block of Boundary Road in Chilliwack. Public information officer Rachelle Brown with PHSA says an ambulance with primary care paramedics, an ambulance with advanced care paramedics and a supervisor responded to the scene.
