Fraser Valley celebrates Family Day with events in Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Mission

FRASER VALLEY — B.C. Family Day activities continue Monday across the Fraser Valley, providing families with a chance to gather and celebrate together.

In Chilliwack, the city has announced free public skating at the Sardis Sports Centre on Monday. Skating with the Chilliwack Jets hockey club will take place from 10:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Additional free public skating will be available from 3:15 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. in Rink 1 and Rink 2.

Public swimming facilities in Chilliwack are also offering family-friendly events on Monday. Admission will be $1 for anyone under 18 and $2 for those 19 and older at the Cheam Leisure Centre and the Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre. Public swim times run from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at both facilities.

There will also be opportunities to try out new activities on the holiday Monday. Taoist Tai Chi, ringette, and wrestling clubs in Chilliwack are offering introductory sessions. Times and locations are listed on the City of Chilliwack website.

In Abbotsford, the Abbotsford Recreation Centre (ARC) and Matsqui Recreation Centre (MRC) will act as the hubs of Family Day activities. The two facilities will offer free activities from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. as part of their Family Day Fun Fest. Activities range from swimming and skating to pickleball and basketball. All activities at ARC and MRC will be free to the public.

In Mission, discounted swimming, skating, and gymnastics activities are planned for Monday. The city has a dedicated page on its website detailing Family Day events in the community.
