IIO investigating death of man following interaction with Abbotsford police
ABBOTSFORD — The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. (IIO) is investigating after a man died following a traffic stop with Abbotsford police in Mission on Sunday (Feb. 10).
According to the Abbotsford Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop around 2 p.m. at a shopping centre in the 32500 block of London Avenue. The vehicle was believed to be stolen.
The IIO news releases states police reported that there was an interaction between the man and officers before he was arrested and placed in a police vehicle. Shortly afterward, he went into medical distress.
Emergency Health Services were called, and the man was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
