CHILLIWACK — Multiple Chilliwack RCMP members attended a downtown Chilliwack bank on Yale Road Saturday evening (Feb. 1) after police received a report of a possible person with a firearm.

However, no robbery occurred, according to a brief statement from Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Teresa Parsons.

“There was a report of a possible person with a firearm but when police attended, it was confirmed to be a lighter,” Cpl. Parsons said. “No robbery occurred.”

One person on Facebook named Richard Robinson Sr. said he drove by Scotiabank during the incident and saw “a bunch [of people] face down, hands behind their back, by the ATM.”
