One man dead after Coquitlam pub fight Friday night

COQUITLAM — Coquitlam RCMP’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is investigating the fatal stabbing of a 35-year-old man outside John B Pub on Friday (Jan. 31).

At around 9:42 p.m., Mounties responded to a fight outside the pub at 1000 Austin Avenue. According to a news release, bystanders were providing First Aid and CPR to a man with life-threatening injuries. First responders also attended, but the man died from his injuries on the scene.

Police did not release the victim’s identity to respect his family’s privacy.

Two men believed to be involved in the fight are now in custody. The fight is believed to be a one-time incident with no ongoing risk to the public.
