FRASER VALLEY — A spokesperson for the Surrey Police Service has confirmed that a man who was the subject of a missing person’s media release just before Christmas has been found deceased.

According to a statement from Surrey Police Service Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton, 29-year-old Ryan Lindsay has been sadly located deceased. The cause of death is not considered suspicious by authorities.

“Surrey Police Service offers its condolences to Mr. Lindsay’s family and friends,” Staff Sgt. Houghton said.

Lindsay had been featured in a missing persons news release from SPS on Monday, December 23. His wife, Cortney Lindsay, disseminated multiple online appeals about his disappearance in a desperate attempt to locate him.

Earlier Wednesday (Jan. 22), Cortney issued a heartfelt statement of grief and anguish when she announced Ryan’s passing online.

“It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart for me to inform you and write about my husband’s passing, over and over again, deleting and rewriting because there are so many things I could say that are so precious about Ryan,” Cortney said. “Ryan was and always will remain a caring, loving man with one of the biggest hearts known to man. He was courageous, hard working and the absolute best father, husband, son and friend anyone could ever wish for.”

Cortney extended wholehearted thanks to everyone who supported her over the past month during Ryan’s disappearance.

“It is with the upmost saddest heart for me to have to write this, I want to thank everyone for all of the time and effort they put into not only me and our kids, but also all of the love care and compassion you all have and will forever carry with you for Ryan,” she said. “My sincere condolences go out to each and every one of you as your hearts heal during this extremely difficult time.”

A service will be held at a future date in due time.

A GoFundMe has been launched to cover the costs of bringing Ryan home to Cranbrook, B.C., from Surrey. Funeral services will be conducted in his home town of Cranbrook.

Cortney concluded her social media post by reiterating her love for her late husband.

“May you now be able to Rest In Peace in the sky with your mama, I love you so much and I know you will continue to protect your family from the sky,” she said.
