Alarming number of impaired drivers removed from Abbotsford roads

ABBOTSFORD — The Abbotsford Police Department says it has pulled over and removed an alarming number of impaired drivers this month that is more than double that of the same period in 2024.

According to a social media post, AbbyPD officers removed 33 impaired drivers from Abbotsford-area roads in just three days over the weekend. In just the first 20 days of January, police have removed 87 impaired drivers from area roadways.

By comparison, AbbyPD only removed 33 impaired drivers over that same 20-day period in 2024.

“These numbers are very concerning for AbbyPD and our community. Driving is a privilege, not a right,” AbbyPD said. “Road safety is a shared responsibility, and the lives of all road user’s matter. Our frontline officers will continue enforcement, utilizing every available tool to hold these drivers accountable for their actions.”
