RCMP marks four years since the discovery of Trina Hunt’s body near Hope

HOPE — Saturday (Jan.18) marks four years since Trina Hunt was reported missing in Port Moody, sparking the start to an extensive search and a tragic homicide investigation that ended with the discovery of her body near Hope.

Hunt was reported missing to the Port Moody Police Department. Despite efforts by police, her family, and the community, she was not seen again until her remains were discovered on March 29, 2021, near Hope, south of Silver Creek.

The case remains unsolved. Investigators have logged over 270 hours of video analysis, conducted 90 interviews, reviewed 400GB of digital evidence, and followed 140 public tips. The investigation has involved more than 130 investigators and support staff.

“This is a tragic homicide that has had a huge impact on our community, including the investigators who have been working tirelessly to advance this case,” said Sgt. Freda Fong of Integrated Homicide Investigations Team (IHIT). “To the family and friends of Trina and the members of the public who have been following this case intently, we want you to know that we hear you and we’re with you. We continue to dedicate all necessary resources and will leave no stone unturned.”
