CHILLIWACK — A downtown Chilliwack brewery that became a go-to destination for local craft beer lovers in trendy District 1881 has announced its upcoming closure.

According to a statement on its two social media channels, Bricklayer Brewing at 101-46126 Yale Road says it will close its doors for good at the end of January.

“This post is definitely the hardest post I’ve ever had to make…” Bricklayer wrote on Facebook and Instagram. “Due to the increased cost of basically everything around us and a heavy decline in the industry, Bricklayer Brewing has had to make the extremely difficult decision to close its doors at the end of this month. This has not been an easy decision to make, and I am heartbroken to have to shut down a dream. But, unfortunately, it has to happen.”

Bricklayer offered happy hour drinks and snacks from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. everyday, featuring sleeves and pints for $5, cider and wine for half off, pretzels for $3.50 and chips and dip for $2.

The brewery said it would cherish all its customers and the connections it made over the past five years.

“It has been an amazing treat to meet all the new faces and bring a new venue for such great artists from near and far to this community. I will continue to do so until the bitter ends on January 31st,” Bricklayer said. “With that being said… Bricklayer Brewing has 2 more weeks of fun, excitement, and BEER!!! So I would love to see you all down here to help us empty our taps out and share some laughs.”

The company concluded its statement by thanking its customers for all their support over the past five years.
