B.C.’s first baby arrives in Kamloops

VICTORIA — The first baby born in B.C. in 2025 came into the world just two minutes into the new year in Kamloops.

According to government officials, a 7 lbs 10 oz baby was born at 12:02 a.m. at Royal Inland Hospital.

An image or the gender of the child was not released.

The first baby in the Fraser Health region arrived just 5 minutes later at 12:07 a.m. at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster. The child of Jamie Carballo and Jeremy Borys weighed 7lbs. 1 oz.
