AGASSIZ — A family-style restaurant that offers everything from fish and chips to salisbury steak, ginger chicken to hot turkey with fries, plans to open a location in the Fraser Valley.

According to an email from Palvinder Singh to Fraser Valley Today, Hungry Bear Diner could open within a matter of weeks on Cheam Avenue in Agassiz.

“Thanks for your email,” Singh told Fraser Valley Today on Sunday (Dec. 8). “We will try to open as soon as possible, but I think it will take a couple weeks. Location is Cheam Avenue, Agassiz. Thanks, and we will inform you more as soon as possible.”

It currently operates a restaurant on Highway 97 in Lac La Hache, B.C., about a four-hour drive from Agassiz.

People have commented online that Hungry Bear Diner will operate between Agassiz Elementary Secondary School and the town’s medical clinic in the former Silvano’s Restaurant at 7056 Cheam Avenue. Singh did not allude to the exact location, but this could very well be the new location.

On its Facebook page, Hungry Bear Diner posts pictures of comfort food featuring crispy chicken cutlets with gravy and vegetables, hot turkey and fries, St. Louis ribs, and baked lasagna.
