Chairs sought to organize 2025 Walk for Alzheimer’s events in Chilliwack and Abbotsford

VANCOUVER – The Canadian non-profit dedicated to supporting people affected by dementia says it’s searching for a chair to organize next year’s IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s in both Chilliwack and Abbotsford.

The Alzheimer Society of B.C. has set Sunday, May 25, 2025, as the date for the events, and like seven other communities across the province, it is in need of walk chairs to engage the community.

“Walk chairs are ambassadors for the Alzheimer Society of B.C.,” the agency said in a statement in early November.

“They build relationships with volunteers, the public, and local businesses, who often share stories about family members and friends who are living with dementia.”

Walk for Alzheimer’s events across Canada represent the largest fundraiser for the disease and other dementias, with roughly 300 volunteers raising money to fund research programs and sustain services that support those affected.

The Alzheimer Society estimates that close to 85,000 British Columbians currently live with dementia.

Anyone interested in becoming a chair can contact Nick Dunn at 604-742-4908 or ndunn@alzheimerbc.org
