Langley RCMP says search for missing woman still active, ground search by SAR has concluded

UPDATE WEDNESDAY, 8:45 P.M.: Langley RCMP spokesperson Corporal Craig van Herk says the ground search in the Harrison area by search and rescue crews has concluded. “We do seek new tips and info to follow up on but we are very much still looking for Mrs. Whitehouse. Our investigation is still very much ongoing and active… We aren’t done! We are very much still following up on every bit of information, tips and video we receive.  We continue to call on the public to assist as we are hopeful someone has seen her or has information that can help.”

HARRISON EAST FOREST SERVICE ROAD (AGASSIZ) — A Facebook group dedicated to finding a missing 82-year-old woman says the search for Jane Whitehouse has been reportedly suspended.

According to an update from administrator Melanie Sora posted Wednesday evening (Oct. 30) at 5:42 p.m. in a Facebook group named “Missing: Jane Whitehouse”, the search at East Harrison Forest Service Road has been reportedly suspended.

“Family Update: The search at East Harrison Lake Forest Service Road has been suspended. The area has been combed for 3 days with no results,” Sora wrote. “The investigation is still very much active but we need more tips and leads to work with. We are still hopeful and grateful for everyone’s compassion and concern. Any information, sightings, videos/images, no matter how insignificant they seem, would be appreciated.”

This reported search suspension has not been confirmed by authorities. Kent Harrison Search and Rescue and Langley RCMP have not made any Facebook statements Wednesday on social media with updates on the search and rescue efforts.

Fraser Valley Today has reached out to Langley RCMP spokespersons Corporal Zynal Sharoom and Corporal Craig van Herk for comment.

Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue responded to the Harrison area Tuesday for a mutual aid call with Kent Harrison SAR in the search for Whitehouse. On Tuesday, the search area reportedly widened as rescue crews utilized a drone to scan the area for any sighting of Whitehouse. There are unconfirmed reports there were up to six SAR teams working consisting of approximately 30 people.

Whitehouse was reported missing Friday. She was last seen at approximately 10:10 a.m. Friday morning in Aldergrove. She is described as Caucasian, 5’1″, 140 pounds, medium build, with grey-blonde hair, and was last seen wearing a green jacket. She was driving a grey Dodge minivan with BC license plate CP6 01A.
