CHILLIWACK — The G.W. Graham junior varsity Grizzlies didn’t have to look far for an outstanding performance against crosstown rival Sardis last week.

JV quarterback Ben Fleenor delivered the goods and then some with 127 passing yards and four touchdowns, setting the tone for a 35-14 win last Wednesday (Oct. 23) in Chilliwack.

Fleenor went 9-of-14 passing and connected with Cody Hagel for one of his four scoring tosses. Hagel posed a dual threat for the Grizzlies by hauling in six catches for 50 yards and registering two tackles while playing both sides of the ball.

Quinton McMillan anchored the line with 7 tackles and was a force to be reckoned with on both offensive and defensive lines.

Teammate Royce MacCormack was consistent and relentless, matching McMillan with 7 tackles and 1 fumble recovery, while providing exceptional play on the O-line. Pierce Newberry recorded a standout performance with 6 tackles and 4 receptions for 51 yards, including 2 touchdowns.

With such strong performances on both sides of the ball, the Grizzlies kept the Falcons on their heels and demonstrated teamwork and execution in the win.

The JV Grizzlies’ last home game of the regular season happens this Thursday on Halloween when they take on W.J. Mouat at home. Kickoff is 2:30 p.m.
