LANGLEY — A shooting connected to gang activity has left one person dead and another in the hospital in Langley. The incident on Saturday evening (Sept. 21), is being investigated by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

According to an IHIT news release, Langley RCMP responded to reports of shots fired near the intersection of 196 Street and 84 Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Officers arrived and found two men with gunshot wounds. One man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was treated for his injuries and sent to the hospital.

The area surrounding the shooting was secured and investigators canvassed the neighborhood to gather information.

IHIT investigators say preliminary evidence suggests the incident is connected to the ongoing gang conflict in British Columbia. Although no suspects have been identified, police believe this was a targeted shooting and not a random act of violence.

IHIT officers are working to collect surveillance video, dashcam videos, and witness testimonies to piece together the events leading up to the shooting. Authorities urge anyone with CCTV or dashcam video from the area between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on September 21 to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
