300-bed long-term care home coming to Langley Hospital campus

LANGLEY — Fraser Health’s purchase of a parcel of land on the Langley Hospital campus is expected to add 300 beds via a long-term care home.

A business plan for the new home, which will increase Langley’s stock of long-term care spots to five facilities, is expected this fall.

The purchase is part of a $3.5 billion investment from the B.C. government to expand and improve the quality of care for seniors who can no longer live safely and independently at home.

“Adding a new publicly funded care home in Langley will help achieve this and improve the overall health-care system and community services in the Fraser region,” Minister of Health Adrian Dix said.

The province says it has been expanding and developing 22 homes since 2017 to offer more primary care, home health, long-term care, and assisted living.

“This new care home in Langley will provide more than just exceptional services, it will create a warm, home-like environment where residents can find comfort in familiar surroundings, enjoy a sense of belonging and build meaningful connections,” Fraser Health President and CEO Dr. Victoria Lee explained.
