CHILLIWACK — A dedicated firefighter and training captain with the Cultus Lake Fire Department is in critical condition following what a GoFundMe page describes as a “horrific accident” Thursday night.

According to the text of the GoFundMe online appeal, Training Captain Shane Taylor suffered life-threatening injuries after an accident on his electric scooter. Audra Coton, a volunteer with the Cultus Lake Fire Department, launched the GoFundMe fundraiser.

Taylor is in critical condition with multiple skull fractures, a traumatic brain injury and a possibly spinal injury as well, Coton wrote online.

“It’s going to be a long road ahead, and we’re all praying for his full recovery,” Coton said. “Please consider helping us support his family – wife Julie, daughter Kassandra (11), and son Lincoln (4), through this very stressful time. Thank you!”
