Mission Memorial Hospital left with no Emergency Room doctors Saturday night

Aug 10, 2024 | 6:53 PM

MISSION – Fraser Health has announced a temporary service adaptation at Mission Memorial Hospital due to physician staffing challenges. The adaptation will take effect from Saturday, August 10 at 6 p.m. until Sunday, August 11 at 8 a.m.

During this period, emergency-trained nurses will remain on-site to assist walk-in patients with basic first aid and manage the re-direction or transfer of those requiring urgent care to nearby hospitals.

All patients present in the emergency department by 6 p.m. on Saturday will be seen by an emergency department physician to ensure they receive necessary care. However, new patients arriving after 6 p.m. are advised to seek treatment at local Urgent and Primary Care Centres or nearby emergency departments, such as Ridge Meadows Hospital.

Fraser Health has coordinated with B.C. Emergency Health Services to ensure that patients needing high-level care are appropriately transferred. Those experiencing life-threatening emergencies, such as chest pain or severe bleeding, are urged to call 9-1-1 immediately for transport to the nearest suitable facility.
